ReplyDeleteThat is a record with some nice piano accompaniment, no? I read on the web she recorded, at the piano, with Sean McGuire too.
ReplyDeleteTalking about harmony and rhythmical accompaniment and etc: that is something which brazilian instrumental music is particularly leaned upon. We have wonderful flute and mandolin players in brazilian ‘choro’ music, and its playing relies a great deal on the dynamics with the support instruments. The acoustic guitar (plucked) play the bass in a sort of baroque, basso continuo, way; and then you have the gentle percussion (samba, that is mostly songs, will have more of a heavy percussion)
Well, I just upped for TAF blog a record from the brazilian 'choro' flute master Altamiro Carrilho (he’s about 86 years now and still let me stunned every time I see him play live) playing “tunes” from the brazilian greatest “tune maker”, Pixinguinha, so if you fancy some non irish (and above all flute!) music there you have it:http://www.4shared.com/file/h5u3L7S0/pixinguinha__altamiro_carrilho.html
;)
Keegan is possibly the best name I've ever heard...but what do I know? ;)
ReplyDeleteMuch obliged for the upload! Love me a good fiddle.
Thanks for that. It is playing now and sounds great with an interesting set of tunes. However, the cover photo of the liner notes of the album is too small a resolution and the print is unreadable. Is there anyway to get another photo of that? Regards and thanks anyway.
